The International STEAM Innovation Challenge is the premier program of GEIST focusing on innovation and sustainability through the incorporation of ideas of youth. The International STEAM Innovation Challenge will be hosted in Turkey this October. This is a fantastic chance to showcase your creativity and problem-solving skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

Eligibility:

• All students from Grades 3 to Tertiary level are encouraged to participate.

Project Goals and Objectives:

Goal: To develop a future leader for global sustainability in a quality education framework integrating STEM & innovation

Objectives:

• By the end of the project, 10,000 students from the project area will be empowered on different pathways of STEAM education
• Enhanced knowledge of STEAM & Coding blended with climate action.
• Exploring the rhythms of different innovation & global solutions
• Empowerment in coding, robotics, and sustainable solutions
• Introducing youth leadership, its resources
• Strengthen the collaboration between international culture & collaboration with schools/colleges to establish a value supply chain of information flow and support for students.
• Sustainable solution under global sustainable challenges using STEAM

The aims of the National STEAM Challenge are as follows-

Conceptualization of the framework of STEAM education:  Different workshops and interactive sessions will help the participants to get a brief outline of STEAM.

Leadership Development: Cultivate leadership skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and adaptability, empowering participants to become effective leaders in an international setting.

Global Citizenship: Instill a sense of global responsibility and citizenship, encouraging participants to address global challenges collaboratively and contribute positively to their communities.

Networking Opportunities: Facilitate connections among participants, providing them with a valuable network of like-minded individuals from different backgrounds and regions.

Innovation and Creativity: Encourage creative thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling participants to approach challenges with innovative solutions and adapt to the rapidly changing global landscape.

Career Advancement: Equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in an international professional environment, opening doors to diverse career opportunities.

Community Engagement: Encourage participants to engage in community service projects, fostering a sense of social responsibility and creating a positive impact on local and global communities.

Climate & SDG leadership: Activities under STEAM will help to conceptualize different avenues & components of climate action & SDGs to become a global voice on climate action.

The objectives of  National STEAM Challenge  are-

1. Enhance participants’ thoughts and innovative mindset towards STEAM education
2. Develop leadership skills, including effective communication, decision-making, and teamwork in an international context.
3. Encourage participants to engage in collaborative projects, promoting intercultural cooperation.
4. Offer networking opportunities with leaders from different industries and regions under STEAM field
5. Integrate real-world case studies and simulations to enhance practical leadership capabilities.
6. Emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving skills applicable to international scenarios.

Activities:

The National STEAM Challenge will be hosted as a physical event in each division of Bangladesh under all 64 districts. The program will dedicatedly focus on Youth Leadership on STEAM.

• Olympiad

Science Quiz Bowl ( At National Level)

• Grade Range: 5–12
• Details: A team-based competition with rapid-fire questions on various science topics, from biology to space science.

Environmental Challenge

• Grade Range: 6–12
• Details: Students design solutions to local environmental issues (e.g., pollution, waste management, climate change).

Technology Competitions

• Coding Challenges

   • Details: Students solve programming problems or develop simple applications, games, or websites using languages like Python, Scratch, or JavaScript.

• Robotics Contest

1. • Grade Range: 5–12
   • Details: Teams design, build, and program robots to complete specific tasks.
   • Variants: Line-following robots, obstacle avoidance, or rescue missions.

• 3D Design Challenge

1. • Grade Range: 6–12
   • Details: Students create 3D models using software like Tinkercad or Blender to solve a real-world problem.

• Cybersecurity Challenge

1. • Grade Range: 7–12
   • Details: Students participate in simulated cybersecurity scenarios to learn ethical hacking and digital safety.

• STEAM Art Contest
• Grade Range: 3–12
• Details: Students create art inspired by scientific or mathematical concepts (e.g., fractals, anatomical drawings).
• Math Relay Races
• Grade Range: 3–8
• Details: Teams solve math problems in a relay-style format, with increasingly difficult problems at each stage.
• Innovation Challenge
• Grade Range: 5–12
• Details: Students create prototypes or models to solve real-world problems using science, technology, and engineering.

Geo-Challenge

• Grade Range: 4–12
• Details: Students create models or maps to showcase solutions for geographic or urban challenges, such as city planning, disaster management, or sustainable communities.
