About DOYEL
In partnership with the GEIST International Foundation, DOYEL is committed to helping develop transformative school leadership by providing sustained, engaging, and authentic professional development to secondary school educators. Through a sequence of learning modules, this program delivers materials, exercises, and instructor feedback that will advance and recharge secondary school educators and result in continuous school improvement.

- Locations: Training in Boone, North Carolina with visits to Washington DC and New York City.
- Fee: $5000 USD
This course is open for participants from all nationalities.

- School Administrators
- Different Subject oriented teachers from primary, secondary and higher secondary levels.
- STEAM teachers from primary, secondary and higher secondary levels
For each of the categories of applicants, separate course modules are in place based on their areas of expertise and proficiency.

Eligibility
- The applicant must have at least three years of Working experience in the aforementioned field.
- The age of the applicant must be from 25 to 55 years.
- The applicant should be comfortable with using computer and it’s necessary software.
- The applicant must be proficient in English since the course will be conducted entirely in English.
Program Fees
Module 1: Training at Appalachian State University (2 weeks, USD 3000)
Module 2: Participation in GEIST Global Teachers’ Meet at Appalachian State University (4 days, USD 1500)
Module 3: Training at Appalachian State University followed by Global Teachers’ Meet Participation & one-week field visit (3 weeks, USD 5000)
*This fee includes accommodation, meals, on-ground transportation, logistics & health insurance.
*This fee does not include international air fare for the trip.
Mode of Conduction
All the activities related to the course will take place at the Appalachian State University Campus.
Course Module:
Goals:
- Knowledge and application of the principles of strategic planning
- Evaluation and analysis of current accountability measures
- Application of sound practices for school improvement
Learning Objectives:
- Develop or revise their school’s mission and vision statements
- Develop a five-year strategic plan
- Create a school improvement plan for each year guided by data and defined by SMART goals
- Apply data mining strategies and data-driven decision-making
- Provide sound processes of teacher supervision.
Length of Program: 10 weeks
Total Seat per program: 35.
Instruction delivery plan: 3 hours per week of course delivery, plus personal time for completing assignments.
Course Module:
Goals:
Course content emphasizes planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional strategies that reflect intellectual rigor and depth of knowledge in both subject matter disciplines and students’ diverse learning needs.
Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate knowledge of research-based instructional strategies for delivering mandated curriculum standards at the nations, state, district, and/or local level.
- Seek, implement, and evaluate the best pedagogical practices for the subjects taught within the context of a specific school setting.
- Acquire a skillset needed to share research-based practices with classroom teachers in a professional development setting.
- Complete an instructional design project that entails pre-assessment, instruction, and post-assessment of student learning
Length of Program: 8 weeks

Course Module:
Goals:
- Teachers will increase their familiarity with STEM frameworks in content integration and leadership.
- Teachers will increase their proficiency in conceptualizing, designing, and evaluating in STEM integration for the classroom.
- Teachers will understand current research related to contextual factors related to STEM teaching and learning.
- Teachers will increase their familiarity with prominent resources in STEM education.
Learning Outcomes:
- Teachers will articulate a STEM perspective that is informed by various frameworks and models of STEM content and STEM leadership.
- Teachers will develop or adapt at least 3 current or new classroom activities to represent STEM integration.
- Teachers will complete an assessment of their classroom/school/ community related to factors that may influence STEM teaching and learning.
- Teachers will prepare a personal portfolio of STEM resources and templates appropriate to their classroom context.
Length of Program: 8 weeks

Sample Course Descriptions:
Foundations of the U.S. Education System: This session is intended to provide a broad overview of the structure of education and schooling in the United States. Participants will consider how the educational structures in the United States are similar to or different from those in their own community or country.
Learning Essential Principles of Effective Leadership: This session presents the topic of strategic leadership. Participants will explore how to establish priorities and set goals, use research for best practices, communicate effectively, and lead people based on trust.
Principles of Universal Design for Learning: In this session, participants will be introduced to the mindset and principles of Universal Design for Learning, including Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Action and Expression, and Multiple Means of Representation.
Project-Based Learning for 21st Century Skills: Project based learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. In this session, participants will learn about the theory and practice of Project Based Learning.
Examining Effective Uses of Power, Authority, and Control in Teacher-Leadership: This session followed up on the principles of effective leadership and examined the types of power and their effects on teacher leadership, change, and school improvement.
